Conscious Coconut’s organic, raw centrifuged coconut oil is used by many families as a simple moisturizer for skin, hair, and everyday care. Below are answers to common questions about our coconut oil, including sourcing, sustainability, pregnancy and breastfeeding use, packaging, and safety.

Section 1: Product Basics

What is Conscious Coconut Oil?

Conscious Coconut is 100% USDA Certified Organic, raw, centrifuged coconut oil sourced from Fair Trade farms in the Philippines. Our oil is extracted using a centrifuge process that separates the oil from fresh coconut without heat or chemicals, preserving its natural nutrients, aroma, and purity.

Our coconut oil is packaged in hygienic, travel-friendly tubes and single-use packets designed for convenient topical use at home or on the go.

Where is your coconut oil sourced?

Our coconut oil is produced in small batches from certified Fair Trade farms in Davao City, Philippines.

Is Conscious Coconut organic?
Yes. Our coconut oil is USDA Certified Organic and inherently non-GMO.

Is your coconut oil vegan and allergen friendly?
Yes. Conscious Coconut oil is:

• vegan
• gluten-free
• soy-free
• dairy-free

Although coconut is technically classified as a drupe rather than a tree nut, individuals with allergies should consult their healthcare provider before use.

Ingredient & Processing

Why is Conscious Coconut centrifuged instead of heat processed?

Conscious Coconut uses a centrifuge extraction process to separate oil from fresh coconut without heat or chemical solvents. This gentle process helps preserve the oil’s natural nutrients, light aroma, and purity.

Centrifuged coconut oil is considered one of the highest quality forms of virgin coconut oil because it maintains the oil’s natural composition while avoiding excessive heat during production.

What makes Conscious Coconut different from other coconut oils?

Conscious Coconut is distinguished by several key factors:

USDA Certified Organic
Fair Trade certified sourcing
raw, centrifuged extraction
single-ingredient formulation
hygienic travel-ready packaging

Our goal is to provide a simple, versatile coconut oil that can be used anywhere — from everyday skin care to travel, outdoor activities, and family care.

Hygiene & Packets

Why are your packets single-use?

Our single-use packets are designed to provide clean, controlled application wherever coconut oil is needed.

They are especially helpful for:

• travel
• gym bags
• diaper bags
• hiking and skiing
• hospital bags
• lactation and pumping support

Single-use packaging helps avoid repeatedly dipping into a shared container and makes it easy to carry coconut oil anywhere.

Are the packets recyclable?

Our packets and outer packaging are printed using sustainable, environmentally responsible inks. We are continually working with our packaging partners to improve recyclability and reduce environmental impact while maintaining product integrity.

Section 2: Uses

How can coconut oil be used?

Coconut oil is a versatile moisturizer commonly used for:

• skin hydration
• hair conditioning
• makeup removal
• massage
• shaving
• soothing dry skin

Our packets and tubes are designed for easy travel and everyday use.

Can coconut oil be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Many families choose coconut oil as a simple, single-ingredient moisturizer during pregnancy and postpartum. Some lactation consultants recommend coconut oil to help reduce friction during pumping or to moisturize dry skin.

Always consult your healthcare provider for guidance specific to your care.

Section 3: Consistency

Why does my coconut oil change consistency?

Our travel tubes, packets, jars and wipes are filled with 100% USDA Certified Organic, Fair Trade, raw centrifuged coconut oil.

Coconut oil naturally changes consistency with temperature. Its melting point is 76°F (24°C). Above this temperature, the oil will become liquid. Below it, the oil may range in texture from a soft lotion to a firmer, butter-like consistency.

These natural changes are completely normal and do not affect the quality or effectiveness of the oil.

If the oil is firm, simply warm the tube or packet by:

• massaging it between your hands
• placing it in a glass of warm water
• setting it on a warm shower shelf while you shower
• briefly warming it with a hair dryer

The oil will quickly soften and return to a smooth consistency.

Why do small grains sometimes appear in coconut oil?

Because coconut oil is a natural, minimally processed product, temperature fluctuations can sometimes cause small grains or crystals to form.

This happens when the oil melts and re-solidifies quickly, causing the fatty acids to separate slightly. The grains are completely natural and safe.

To return the oil to a smooth consistency, gently warm the tube or packet until the oil melts fully. Once cooled slowly, it will return to its normal texture.

Section 4: Packaging & Sustainability

Coconut oil can interact with certain plastics over time, especially when exposed to varying temperatures. For this reason, we use laminate aluminum tubes with bamboo caps, which help protect the integrity of the oil while allowing it to be easily used in both liquid and solid states.

For our wipes, we also prioritize environmentally responsible materials. The wipe itself is made from bamboo viscose, a plant-derived fiber, and the packets and outer packaging are printed with sustainable, environmentally friendly inks.

These choices allow us to maintain product integrity while working toward more thoughtful, responsible packaging.

Section 5: Shelf Life

How long does coconut oil last?

Unopened coconut oil typically lasts up to two years when stored in a cool, dry place. Once opened, we recommend using it within one year for best freshness.

Section 6: Orders

When will my order ship?

Orders placed through the Conscious Coconut website typically ship within 48 hours Monday–Friday. Delivery times vary depending on location and shipping method.

For customers who prefer faster delivery options, many Conscious Coconut products are also available on Amazon, where shipping times may vary based on location and Prime availability.

Where do you ship?

Conscious Coconut ships across the United States and internationally where available. To view available shipping options and the exact cost of shipping to your location, simply start the checkout process and enter your shipping address. Shipping rates are calculated in real time through Shopify based on your destination and selected shipping method.

Some customers outside the U.S. may also find Conscious Coconut products available through Amazon or authorized retail partners, depending on their location.

Refunds & Returns

At Conscious Coconut, we take great care in sourcing and preparing our products. Our coconut oil is USDA Certified Organic and food-grade, and our body scrubs are made to order in small batches using five food-grade ingredients to ensure freshness and quality.

Because of the nature of these products, we are unable to accept returns or refunds once an order has shipped. This policy helps us maintain the highest standards for product integrity, freshness, and safety for all of our customers.

Additionally, opened or used products are not eligible for refunds.

What if my product arrives damaged?

If your order arrives damaged or defective, please contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will gladly make it right.

Please email info@consciouscoconut.com with:

• your order number
• a photo of the damaged product
• a photo of the shipping packaging

We will arrange a replacement or refund as appropriate.

What if my order was shipped to the wrong address?

Customers are responsible for entering the correct shipping address at checkout. If an order is returned to us due to an incorrect address or delivery issue, we are happy to reship the order, but additional shipping costs may apply.

What if my package is lost in transit?

If your tracking information shows that the package has not been delivered or appears lost in transit, please contact us and we will work with the shipping carrier to investigate the issue and determine the best solution.

What happens if my package is marked delivered but I did not receive it?

If your tracking information shows that a package has been marked as delivered by the carrier, we recommend checking around your property, with neighbors, building staff, or your local carrier as packages are sometimes left in alternate secure locations.

If you are unable to locate the package, please contact us and we will do our best to assist by reviewing the delivery details and initiating a carrier investigation when possible.

Do you replace packages that show as delivered?

As a small business, we do our best to help when delivery issues arise and may offer a one-time replacement shipment as a courtesy while we investigate the situation with the carrier.

However, if a replacement shipment is also confirmed delivered by the carrier, we are unable to continue reshipping orders or issuing refunds.

Conscious Coconut is not responsible for packages once they are marked delivered by the carrier.

What can I do to ensure successful delivery?

To help ensure packages arrive safely, we recommend:

• including your full address and apartment/unit number
• using a secure delivery location
• shipping to a workplace or alternate address if package theft is a concern
• selecting signature confirmation when available

What if I live in an apartment building?

Please ensure that your unit or apartment number is included in the shipping address at checkout. Missing unit information can prevent the carrier from delivering packages correctly.

Orders placed through Amazon

Orders placed through Amazon must be returned or refunded through Amazon’s return system, as those orders are fulfilled and processed directly by Amazon.

Section 7: Social Impact

Is Conscious Coconut a social enterprise?

Yes. Conscious Coconut was founded with the belief that business can be a force for good. Our company is built around a social enterprise model that supports farmers, workers, and communities both locally and globally.

How does Conscious Coconut support Fair Trade farmers?

Our coconut oil is sourced from Fair Trade certified farms in the Philippines, ensuring farmers and factory workers receive fair wages, safe working conditions, and long-term economic stability.

Fair Trade also supports community investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure for farming communities.

Do Conscious Coconut products give back?

Yes. Through our partnership with Feeding America, every product sold helps provide meals to children facing hunger in the United States.

Since launching Conscious Coconut, our community has helped donate over one million meals to families in need.

Why is Conscious Coconut committed to social impact?

We believe products should not only be good for your body, but also good for the people and communities involved in making them.

From the farmers who grow our coconuts to the teams who package our products and the children receiving meals, every purchase supports a broader mission of ethical sourcing, community support, and responsible business.

Section 8: Safety

Can coconut oil be used for feminine care?

Because Conscious Coconut contains 100% organic coconut oil with no added fragrance, preservatives, or fillers, some people choose it as a simple moisturizer for delicate skin.

Our coconut oil is food-grade and edible, which means it can be used both topically and in food preparation. When used for personal care, we recommend applying a small amount and performing a patch test first to check for individual sensitivities.

As with any personal care product used in intimate areas, if you experience irritation or have concerns about vaginal health, consult your healthcare provider or gynecologist.

Newborn Care

Can coconut oil be used on newborn skin?

Coconut oil has long been used as a gentle moisturizer for delicate skin. Many families choose simple, single-ingredient oils to help moisturize dry areas such as cheeks, legs, or the diaper area.

Conscious Coconut contains one ingredient — USDA Certified Organic coconut oil — with no added fragrance or preservatives.

As with any skincare product used on infants, we recommend performing a small patch test and consulting your pediatrician or healthcare provider for guidance specific to your baby.

Lactation Support

Can coconut oil be used during breastfeeding or pumping?

Some lactation consultants recommend coconut oil to help moisturize dry skin or reduce friction during pumping, as oils can help create a smoother seal between the skin and pump flange.

Because Conscious Coconut is food-grade and contains only one ingredient, many families feel comfortable using it in situations where the oil may come into contact with skin during breastfeeding. A small amount of coconut oil does not need to be wiped off before nursing.

Conscious Coconut’s single-use packets are used by maternity teams and lactation consultants in hospital settings, where their hygienic, controlled format can make them convenient for pumping support and postpartum care.

Every lactation journey is unique, so we recommend consulting a lactation consultant or healthcare provider for guidance specific to your needs.

Newborn Care

Is coconut oil safe for newborn skin?

Many families choose simple, single-ingredient oils as a gentle moisturizer for delicate newborn skin. Conscious Coconut contains 100% USDA Certified Organic coconut oil with no added fragrance, preservatives, or fillers, which some parents prefer when using skincare products on infants.

In some hospital settings, coconut oil is used in neonatal care as a topical emollient to help support the skin barrier of newborns, particularly when skin is dry or delicate.

Newborn skin can be sensitive, so we recommend performing a small patch test first and introducing any new product gradually.

Parents should always consult their pediatrician or healthcare provider for guidance specific to their baby’s skin and health needs.

Why is coconut oil sometimes used in neonatal care?

Coconut oil has been studied and used in neonatal settings as a topical emollient to help moisturize and support the skin barrier of newborns, including premature infants whose skin may be especially delicate.

Because Conscious Coconut contains only one ingredient, some healthcare professionals and families prefer simple formulations when caring for newborn skin.

Sexual Activity

Can coconut oil be used during sexual activity?

Some people choose natural oils as a personal lubricant because they can help reduce friction and provide moisture.

Because Conscious Coconut is food-grade and made from a single ingredient, it can be used for many personal care purposes.

However, oil-based products can degrade latex condoms and some barrier methods, which may reduce their effectiveness. Individuals who rely on these products for contraception or STI protection should choose a compatible lubricant.

As with any personal care product, discontinue use if irritation occurs and consult a healthcare provider with any concerns.
