Totally in love and completely exhausted. Those first 100 days can be rough and I'm hopeful Conscious Coconut can make your life just a little easier. It can take a bit to establish a routine with your baby, since baby’s skin is very sensitive. Even with all those Target runs and Amazon deliveries, it can be hard to find products that don’t break the bank or leave your little one with raging eczema.
That’s where organic coconut oil comes in! As a mama of two under three, I've found over and over that baby's new skin can't handle products filled with multiple ingredients. Over the last five years, hundreds of mothers have shared that their kids react well to our coconut oil because it's a single-source, food-grade, hand-pressed oil that is as unprocessed as you can get. Why would you put anything on their skin that you wouldn't eat?
You know who else is a fan of our coconut oil? Beautiful mama of 3, clean beauty advocate and humanitarian, Molly Sims. Click below to hear why it is great for her whole family!
Coconut Oil as a Natural Remedy for Mom + Baby
Cradle Cap is one of those things that can sneak up on us mamas, especially when we’re newbies. Cradle cap is often mistaken for eczema. But while eczema can be itchy and irritating, most babies remain happily unaware that they have cradle cap (phew!). Coconut oil can be used as a natural treatment. Gently massage coconut oil into the area that has the flaky, scaly skin. Allow it to sit for a few minutes to give it time to loosen the dry patches of skin.
Coconut oil’s antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antimicrobial properties make it a perfect natural replacement for chemical-laden diaper creams. Apply 1 teaspoon on the affected area and allow it to dry before putting on a new diaper. Coconut Oil isn't just putting a barrier between your baby's tush & the diaper, it is healing the rash itself.
Teething time can be tough for the little ones. Coconut oil has natural anti-inflammatory properties which can help relieve pain and inflammation caused by teething. Rub a small amount of coconut oil directly onto the gums of those teethers - they’ll love the taste too!
The last thing you want to do is overload your baby’s body with more things that could aggravate and upset your babe's itchy, uncomfortable eczema. That is why a pure, simple organic oil is your best bet. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, a nutritious fatty acid also found in breast milk. Lauric acid is used to develop monolaurin, which is an antimicrobial agent that can fight bacteria, fungi, yeast and other viruses. In other words, when you hear people talk about coconut oil having antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties beneficial to eczema, they are referring to CoCo's abundance of lauric acid. Coconut oil also has the natural ability to penetrate the skin quickly and efficiently, which can boost hydration, improve skin elasticity, fight itching and reduce the chances of infection.
Rich in essential fatty acids and proteins, coconut oil nourishes and gently moisturizes your baby's sensitive skin. Infant massage has numerous physical benefits for babies from alleviating colic, to promoting better sleep to boosting their immune system. It also soothes and relaxes your little one giving you time to bond with your babe.
Did you know that consuming coconut oil as a new mother can increase your milk flow? A few tablespoons of coconut oil can significantly affect your breast milk fatty acid composition for 1 to 3 days with the maximum increase occurring during the first 10 hours. Coconut oil is high in lauric acid and Vitamin E that acts as potent anti-oxidants - helping to maintain healthy cell structure & function. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has shown that lactating mothers who eat coconut oil have significantly increased levels of lauric acid and capric acid in their breast milk, creating nutrient-rich milk. Coconut oil is also easy for an infant’s immature digestive system to absorb and utilize. CoCo's medium chain fatty acids help the baby grow and develop properly.
CoCo will be your sidekick throughout your experience as a new (or pro!) breastfeeding mama. Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that will help to prevent dry nipples and will allow your nipples to heal while keeping them safe from infection. CoCo is also safe for babies, so there's no need to wash it off before the next feed.
Thanks to its healing, repairing, and moisturizing properties, coconut oil is an effective solution for reducing the appearance of stretch marks. But start early! CoCo can prevent stretch marks from occurring in the first place. Simply rub coconut oil onto your body two to three times daily in those places that stretch marks sneak up on and watch them fade.
"I found this product this summer and our entire family absolutely loves it. Our family suffers from extremely dry skin. My husband and son (Brooks) both have eczema and this is one of our favorite products to cure it. It's organic, smells good, and makes all of our skin baby soft. Not only does it do wonders to our skin, but also for every tube purchased, they donate a meal to a child in need."
